Called to the Bar in 1997, Martyn has specialised in personal injury law throughout his career, acting in cases across the full spectrum of employers’ liability, public liability and road traffic litigation. He is particularly experienced in catastrophic injury claims, including spinal injuries, serious psychiatric injury and other life-changing cases of maximum severity.

Since joining Cloisters in 2006, Martyn has developed a substantial claimant clinical negligence practice. He is regularly instructed in complex, high-value medical negligence claims, including cerebral palsy and other severe birth and brain injury cases.

Alongside his practice, Martyn is a contributor to the latest edition of Charles Lewis’ Clinical Negligence, edited by Andrew Buchan, authoring chapters on duty of care, breach of duty and costs.

Martyn is also an active member of the wider legal profession, serving on the Bar Council CFA Committee and the PIBA Executive Committee.
